Furniture and Large Items

A collection of some of my furniture and larger projects. I tend towards simple forms with clean lines, and try to keep the focus on the materials themselves, but I like a little bit of natural edge, small inlay, or a bit of fun joinery to break up a face or an edge with a little bit of play. I prefer working with imperfect wood with a little bit of character, working around or embracing splits and knots and incorporating them into the design of the piece. I am influenced by the idea of wabi-sabi, as well as mid-century, Scandinavian, shaker, and brutalist designs.

Monkeypod Slab Table

Custom dining table from a monkeypod slab. Walnut trestle base with tusked tenons. Osmo polyx oil finish. 38"x72"

Child's Bed

Child's bed frame from cherry and maple. Integrated spinning toy in headboard. Double wedged through tenons, maple slats.
Tung oil finish.

Sycamore Dining Table

Sycamore slab dining table. Internal jointed live edge. Steel tube legs with wooden feet. Lacquer finish.

Maple Dining Benches

A matched pair of benches from sequential quilted maple slabs. Walnut legs with wedged through tenons. Osmo Polyx Oil finish

Outdoor Table

An outdoor dining set with patterned benches. Made from dimensional cedar. Exterior poly finish.

Waterfall bench.

Entryway bench with shelving and shoe storage. One long waterfall madrone over a steel frame. Lacquer finish.

Laundry Room Cabinets

Local maple slabs full of character were used here to renovate a utility room. Bookmatched cabinet doors and slab countertop were installed. Finished with Osmo Polyx oil.

Kitchen Nook Counter

Figured walnut slab countertop for a small pantry nook. Unsightly knot filled with maple butterfly. Lacquer finish.

Floating Shelves

Live edge walnut floating shelves, hand scraped, Tung oil finish. Slab was local to client.

Stepstool

Quilted maple step stool. Offcuts from a larger job were fashioned into a matching step stool for the same client. Bookmatched quilted maple top. Walnut wedged through tenon base. Osmo Polyx finish.
